A Blog-Worthy Husband

I tease Cory by saying the things he does are not "blog-worthy," thus he RARELY makes an appearance on here. ;)

Well, he must have REALLY wanted to make the Blog, because he definitely earned his post. (Pay no mind to the fact that Sadie just has to blink to earn a post, they have different requirements)

Here is Cory with 4 of his classmates that have all been inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA). To be accepted into this prestigious group, you have to pretty much ace the first 2yrs of med school, get exceptionally high on the board exam, and manage to be in the top 5% of a class made up of people just as geekily smart as him.

Somehow, he did it!
I'm so proud of all the hard work you've done, Cory!

P.S. If this post gets mysteriously deleted, blame Cory! He HATES it when I brag about him. -But that just makes it more fun! ;)

P.P.S Thanks for the pics, Mel, or Cory might not have made the Blog!

Who needs animals?

We go to the zoo A LOT! Sadie knows the path and which animal is coming up next. Sade adores all the animals, but I don't know if any of them can compete with:

THE MAGIC ROLLING BALL WITH WATER!!!

Show me an animal that can do THAT!!! -Okay, most of them can go into water, but still!

The Vacuum Monster

I will admit it. There is a REAL possibility that I am raising the biggest SCAREDY CAT out there! Remember the COWS???

Well, we conquered that fear so on to the next, I guess! Here goes:

Sadie wasn't always afraid of the vacuum. But when she started running around, it was easier to vacuum while she was napping. The few times since that she's encountered the vacuum happened exactly like that video. All tears!

Oh, and did you notice that she's holding 2 spoons? Sadie never did take a pacifier, and spoons have been her most recent comfort item. Whatever, girl!

So we set out for a little "exposure therapy." I mean, I can't always vacuum in hiding! So we practice just walking by and saying "Hi!"

Did you see that QUICK, shaky, little wave? She said "Hi" when I put down the camera!

I left the vacuum out for 2DAYS and her nerves just got WORSE! Because she knew where the vacuum was, she wouldn't go to that HALF of the apartment! Guess she's a little too young for exposure therapy.

But she did make it past the vacuum,
with the help of those 2 spoons!

P.S. The SadieRose is ALMOST equally afraid of the hair dryer! Ugh! I think we need more spoons!

Something Smells!

Even Sadie Rose can smell it!

(or I asked her where her nose is...I'm not sure which)

I knew it was something in the fridge.
I've smelled it for a couple days.
When I first noticed it, I immediately
checked ANY & ALL leftovers.

Nope, leftovers good! Hmmm....

But it STILL smelled!!!

And the Sade STILL knows where her nose is!

Then I FOUND IT! In the back of the bottom drawer (where it doesn't belong).

Umm, yes, that is a picture of TWO oranges!!! YUCK!!!
Sadie is finally feeling better, but after seeing this,
I feel sick!

P.S. One of the oranges was perfect, so it couldn't have been THAT old! Right???

Is the sky still blue?

Sadie and I haven't seen the outside world in a while...

This is why:

We're on DAY 4 of this fever! Ugh!
The nurse (whom I adore) says wait it out
one more day before coming in.

We spend a lot of time snuggling in our rocking chair.

And I finally decided to blow dry my hair
for the first time in D-A-Y-S.

LUCKILY she's been sleeping like an angel for both naps and nighttime.

Maybe tomorrow we'll get to see some real, live people! Here's hoping!

The Forgotten Holiday

When Cory & I first got married, I asked for $10 for each holiday so I could buy/make some festive decorations.

Well, all these years, St Patrick's Day was left behind!

Not anymore! I officially have 2 St Patty's Day items!

Next time, I think I'll go alone.

Who decided that it would be a good idea for babies to learn to RUN before they learn how to REASON??? I have some serious issues with this idea.

During the first year and half of Sadie's life, we could go shopping without any problems. And even now, most of the time, she is fine. She does seem to have an hour time limit though.

Well, yesterday was NOT one of those usual, manageable times. Not, Not, Not. I bought my camera (LOVE it, and got a cute case which it spends most of the time inside). There, Sadie wasn't that bad, but she was HYPER. She wouldn't let me hold her, and she would just run & run & run! It wasn't helped by the fact that checking out was taking FOREVER because of my wonderfully difficult price matching. Anyway, I think 3 workers thought my child needed Ritalin, but we made it out happy.

The same could not be said about our next stop. It was 10min past her very scheduled nap time, but I thought I would risk it. We went inside Old Navy. I just needed to exchange a pair of pants for a new pair. Well, of course I also needed to check out any deals in the baby section. So it wasn't as quick a trip as planned, but it wasn't long. The pants I was exchanging I had accidentally already removed the tags. So I had them folded up inside the pants. I could tell Sadie was getting restless so I headed towards the check out. I got out the pants while she started acting up and lost the tags! I think they went under some shelving. I tried looking for the tags, but couldn't find them. Sadie calmed down a bit, but I knew it was time to go.

I looked down at her in the cart and she's holding a stuffed animal she grabbed from who-knows-where in that store. Well, I wasn't about to pay $5.50 for a stuffed key chain, so I asked Sadie for it. She said, "No, No, No." That was it, I knew what I had to do. I went for the toy and Sade started the scream. I had to PRY it out of her little fingers. But I got it! Sadie just kept wailing. I kept asking her to look at me and telling her to be quiet, but I might as well have been talking to the stuffed animal. She heard none of it.

I'll admit it, I was actually mad at her. She's gotten to be a better communicator and it really bothered me that she wouldn't listen. I picked her up and practically ran out of the store. Sadie sobbing the entire way. We passed what felt like dozens of people (in reality, 4ish) in the store who probably thought "That girl sure can't handle that baby." I kept pleading with her to be quiet. I mean, I can have 30 fifth graders listen to me all day every day, why wouldn't Sadie?

Sadie trying to look innocent.
Don't let her fool you. ;)

Well, I struggled, but managed to get her in her carseat still crying. And do you know what this girl called out between sobs??? This little thing I was so mad at calls out, "HUG? HUG?"

I couldn't help but laugh a little. There I am in the middle of the parking lot hugging my tantrum of a daughter. Oh this little baby, has me figured out for sure.

So, I left the store with un-returnable pants, and down one sippy cup (I was too embarrassed to go back in and look for it).

BUT I did get a pretty sweet hug from a girl who doesn't want me to be mad at her.
