Slide Phobia

Sadie Rose is a fearful child.  She just came to our family a little tense.  Remember this and this and this?   Well, slides were just one more fear that needed conquering.  We started small, with baby slides.  Go, Sadie, Go!

more than you are afraid of it.

doing a thing

Avoiding danger is no safer
in the long run than
outright exposure.
The fearful are caught
as often as the bold.

Fear has a large shadow,
but he himself is small.

Firsts

After Sadie turned 1, you start to run out of "first" events, i.e. first time having baby food, first time sitting, first time walking, first time crawling (in that order for Sadie, cute little weirdo).

This first day of preschool is a big step for us!  She is really REALLY excited for it!  And it's the start of a new phase of motherhood for me.
For 3 years I've just been staying home playing with babies.

But now Sadie has her own schedule.  Tuesdays: School. Wednesdays: Dance (starts in a week, you'd bet pictures are on their way) Thursdays: School again. (I know it's BARELY a schedule, but a schedule nonetheless)

I've graduated from "new mom" to  "mom on the go"
Looks like she's ready to move on with or without me!

Waiting

It seems like if you could sum up my relationship with Cory in one word, "waiting" would be a good one to choose.

Now I don't want to seem like a Debbie-Downer.  I'm actually very good at waiting!  In fact, I may be one of the best wait-ers around!  (Not to be confused with 'waiters,' I'm probably not very good at that)

Cory and I dated for a year before his mission.

 (aww, look how cute!)
 I waited.

and waited.

And now that he's in residency, those mission-days seem all too familiar.  I can go several days without seeing him, the kids go longer.  We wait by the phone, we wait by the window, we wait by the door. We wait in the yard.

It's a GOOD thing he's worth the wait!  ;)

Happy Anniversary to my very best friend!
