Practically Famous

It's true, that's me on camera.  Leave a comment if you want a signed autograph picture of me.  Ha!
Okay, fine.  Me being on camera has nothing to do with me, and all about being related to him:

That's my little bro, Alex.  He's in his missionary get-up, but he's actually been home for a year.  (He even got married just over a week ago, pictures of the wedding will be up soon)

While Alex was on his mission in San Diego, he was chosen to be a part of the new instructional films (called "The District") centered on Preach My Gospel. The movies are being shown now at the MTC!  Every missionary there will know my bro "Elder Murray," just ask them!  He even gets recognized at BYU, it's pretty funny! Some missionaries were at my cousins house and saw my brother's wedding invite, and couldn't believe it!    So , how did this work for Alex? Well...

For MONTHS of his mission, it was like he was on a reality show!  Film crews followed him everywhere!  Knocking doors, going to church, meeting with members, everything!  He even had a diary-cam to record his own thoughts.
The film crew spent a day at my parents' house.  They're adding more episodes to the series and wanted family input on Alex.  It was fun to pretend like I was on TV.  They interviewed me for about a half hour, and it's possible they won't use any of it. :) But it was still fun!

The movies turned out great!  They may be airing on BYU TV sometime, so keep an eye out for them.  They're really fun to watch, and I think they do a good job showing what it's like to be on a mission! We're really proud of Alex for being such a wonderful example of how to be a good missionary.
And we're also glad he's home now!

A Perfect Birthday

It started with Banbury Donuts, as any birthday should. Mmm.... It ended with dinner at Goodwood BBQ, I'm STUFFED! And somewhere in the middle, we found out the gender of Baby #2. It's official!

Cheater! Cheater!

I cheated with Sadie! I'm cheating AGAIN! I just set my appointment up at the mall to find out the gender of Baby 2! I would have to wait another 5 weeks for the hospital ultrasound. That's a long time! PLUS Wednesday (the day I'm going) is my BIRTHDAY! What a great birthday gift, right??? I thought so! (side note: I'm going a couple days earlier than they typically do gender verifications, so I might have to wait a bit longer. But I'm still gonna try!)

That means, it's time to VOTE! Do you think it's a boy or a girl? I'll help you out a little. I got this idea from my friend, Megan's, blog. (Thanks, Megan! Hope you don't mind I'm copying you!) Here are some similarities and differences between my two pregnancies:

SIMILARITIES:
*show early (I pop by 11wks for sure)
*no heartburn
*crave fruit in the 1st trimester, and meat in the 2nd trimester.

DIFFERENCES:
*appetite- I'm STARVING all the time! With Sadie I lost a few pounds cuz NOTHING sounded good.
*potty breaks -I never woke up in the night to use the bathroom with Sadie. Now I rarely miss a night!
*nausea- I'm LESS nauseous this time. I was even nervous I was going to miscarry because I seemed symptom-less.
*carrying higher, I think.

My guess? A boy, but really, it's just a guess!

So what's it going to be???

Oh where, O where did my little BRAIN go???

I don't know what it is about carrying a fetus that requires so much of my brain power, but it's already turning my brain to MUSH!

Exhibit A: Sunday I wore my leggings backwards ALL DAY!

Not bad you say? Don't worry, I have more.

Exhibit B: I lost my glasses for 4 days and found them in our entertainment center with the dvd's! What? I know I'm the only one that had the chance to move them there, but I do N-O-T know why I'd put them there!!!

Exhibit C: A few weeks ago I didn't get ready 'til 3pm or so (don't judge), and realized that my pajama pants were INSIDE OUT!

Oh wait, I'm not done!

Exhibit D: The day after exhibit C, I locked myself out while my toddler was locked in!!! Luckily she was asleep so didn't miss me. I saw 2 college-age guys in the hall and thought, "I bet they've carded a door before!" And they HAD! They picked the lock in under a minute! I'm not sure whether I should be grateful or scared...

Oh I hope I can get through this pregnancy without walking into too many walls! ;) Wish me luck!

P.S. I'm beginning to wonder if this blog is portraying me in an unflattering light...hmm....

Today was a Good Day!

Several months ago, I had a coupon for Oreos at Costco. WHO in the world needs 10 packs of oreos??? WHO??? Well, apparently we do. (Ya know, they almost never expire. So it was really just me doing some economically-conscious shopping....or something....)

Well, for the past MONTH I knew that there was one more unopened pack of oreos. I knew that they had broken free from their box in an effort to save room in our pantry-less kitchen. I knew they were in the wrong spot. But I knew they were in there!

So the search was ON! It was on like Donkey-Kong!
(I may or may not have moved a huge bag
of Cocoa-Roos to make us look like we eat other
things than fake chocolate.)

OF COURSE!
Behind the cream of mushroom soup!!!
That really only makes sense.

Yes, today was a good day!

Behind the Scenes

YEP! That is a TRUE picture of Cory finding out that he was going to be a daddy again. I pulled the enchiladas out. Had the camera ready. And called him into the kitchen. To be fair, I did say, "HOLD THAT FACE!" :) But that face is legit! Pretty fun! However, while the getting pregnant thing was planned, how I told Cory did NOT go the way I thought up!

So, here's the inside scoop of finding out I was pregnant:

One Negative test....

Two negative tests

THREE NEGATIVE TESTS!

Yep, that's right! THREE!!! Okay, now the first one I took a day-ish early. BUT I had good reason! See, I knew that the next day (Saturday) Aunt Flo should be making her arrival, if she was coming, that is. I planned to go to dinner with Cory on Saturday night, and have the waiter bring a dessert out with a little sign in it that would say "Baby #2" or something. So I NEEDED to know if my eggo was preggo!

Friday, not preggo. Saturday 2am (woke up to pee, and still wondering if I peed right), still no positive. Saturday 4pm, right before going out to dinner, still NEGATIVE. So I figured it didn't work! I ran through a gagillion reasons why it hadn't worked and what I needed to do for the next month. I also decided, NO MORE PREGNANCY TESTS FOR 5 DAYS! Those negatives take a toll on your heart, ya know???

Sunday came, I wouldn't let myself take a test. No sir, no way! We had family coming for dinner so I successfully distracted myself. PLUS, I was pretty positive I was just waiting for Aunt Flo, not another test.

Monday, still no Flo. Now, I know I said I'd wait 5days, but come on! Am I the kind of girl that can wait 5days??? Answer: No, no I am not. Cory had to work late, I had dinner with my family, and bought a test on the way home. I was still thinking I was kidding myself.

I RUSHED Sadester's sleep routine (sorry Sade, I've got plans too, ya know). And took the test before Cory got home. I bit my tongue when he arrived and didn't say a thing! It was SUPER helpful that he was exhausted and asleep within 17min of coming home. (But who's counting? It was a long 17min)

Tuesday night (and 2 positive tests later)...
We had enchiladas!

A Little Piece of HEAVEN!!!

My mom has the B-E-S-T recipe for sour cream chicken enchiladas! You'll probably never again see me share a recipe. I'm not much of a creative cook. More of a copy-cat cook. Anyway, these enchiladas are DELISH! (Side note, don't care about the recipe? Still better scroll to the end to see how SCRUMPTIOUS they look!)

Here's the recipe for HEAVENLY enchiladas:

1-2dozen corn tortillas, dipped in hot oil to soften
3-4 cups chicken, cooked & diced (short on time? canned chicken works too!)
1/3 cup sliced olives (optional)

Grate & Mix:
1/2lb Cheddar Cheese
1/2lb Monterey Jack Cheese (or buy pre-grated mexican blend cheese)

Mix Until Blended:
2cans Cream of Chicken Soup
6 Scallions, chopped
2 small cans green chili's (fire roasted are best! Or substitute one can jalepenos)
1cup sour cream

Reserve 1/3 of cheese and sauce for topping. Mix chicken with remaining 2/3 of sauce. Fill tortillas with chicken/sauce mixture and remaining 2/3 of cheese. Roll and place seam down in a baking dish (I usually do 2 9"X9" pans and freeze one for later). Top with reserved sauce; sprinkle with reserved cheese. Top with sliced olives (optional). Bake at 400degrees for 15-20min, or until cheese is bubbly.

WHAT? I always put olives on the enchiladas?!?

Oh that!
{Baby #2 is due 12-16-11}
