I won!

Several months ago I blogged about a little debate concerning piercing Sade's ears. Well.....

I WON!!! Well, more like we compromised. I wanted to do it at 3 mos, Cory wanted to do it....never. But together we agreed that when she turned one, she could get her ears pierced. They are teeny tiny pearls, and I love them!

In other news:
Sadie is saying new words all the time. I wanted to capture some of her first before she follows her parents' path and turns into a chatterbox. So far she says: mom, dad (not mama or dada), ball, car, and some animal noises (elephant, cat, sheep, owl).

Happy Birthday, Sadie Rose!!!

I just can't believe it! One year ago today, they placed this angel in my arms. I've loved every second of getting to know her.

She came 8 days late and only by induction. Who knew that was going to match her personality? I wouldn't describe it as stubborn, more like she's VERY cautious about new things. While some babies dive into new situations (toys, people, new places), Sadie waits and watches first. She contemplates things before she decides whether or not she likes it. It has been so funny watching her experience the world.

I don't know how she turned from that tiny newborn into a toddler. Although I have those monthly pictures showing how she changed, it still doesn't seem possible to happen so fast.

We had the perfect little party for Miss Sadie. Because Cory's schedule is a little unpredictable, we celebrated on Saturday. We went to Liberty Park with the family. It was so much fun, thanks everyone for coming!

Here's the cake: A Ladybug for the SadieBug

I did put Sadie in her chair with a piece of cake and let her "go wild." But like I said, that's not Sadie's style. The girl doesn't like to get her hands messy. Funny thing!

Sadie loved all the gifts! Thanks so much, fam!

But I think her favorite part was walking in the river. It's a great place for kids to cool off.

Happy Birthday, Sadie Rose!
We love you!

Discovery Gateway

This week we went to Discovery Gateway with my sis and nieces. Babies are only free until they're 1, and since Sade's birthday is next week (gulp, can't believe it!) we went just in time. Discovery Gateway is a little chaotic for adults, but the kids & babies sure love it!

I read somewhere that a baby's playtime is their work time. I believe it! Sadie was concentrating on EVERYTHING she could! It was IMPOSSIBLE to get her to look at the camera.

I was glad they had an area set aside for babies. She liked it too. It was a nice little refuge.

Playing house with cousin Kennedy!

Sadie really liked the farming area. She loves pulling out the plastic vegetables and playing with the chicken coop. We may have a future farmer on our hands!

Sadie with cousin Maddie. She just learned how to say "car." It sounds more like "cah" but we still count it.

This picture shows how her face was the entire time. Not too many smiles, but definite interest. She want to see how everything worked! My little thinker!

Bahama Mama

No, I did not drink a Bahama Mama while I was there. But I am a mama that was in the Bahamas, so I think the title still works!

Cory and I had an AMAZING vacation together! We were sooo lucky that he took the Boards early, and we had an entire month to party. The cruise was the perfect ending for his break! Here are some highlights:

It sure takes a lot of WORK to get on vacation!
We were BEAT when we finally reached our hotel
room in Miami! We almost missed our flight in
Houston because our first flight was delayed.
We landed in Terminal A, took a shuttle to
Terminal B, then a train to our terminal, C. YUCK!
They were closing the doors as we were arriving
panting (carrying ALL our luggage). The lady at the
gate was yelling, "Are you Kogelschatz?
I have Kogelschatz!" PHEW!!! We made it!

Here we are in Key West! We rented a scooter,
which turned out to be the PERFECT way to see
the town and all the beaches!
(beach at Key West below)

Meet Eduardo & Veronica from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
They were our dinner partners each night on the cruise.
Cory was able to practice his Spanish with them,
and they practiced their English with us!
They were so nice and didn't seem to mind
getting stuck with young punks like us! ;)

No cruise would be complete without
towel animals! I think this is some kind of
well-educated sea creature. He looks so
sophisticated wearing my glasses!

I'm SORRY! But this night was
HILARIOUS! It was a scavenger hunt
where the host would say things like,
"20 points for the team that will send up
a man with no pants!" A SURPRISING number
of men had no problem standing in their underwear
in front of 300+ people!

One day at sea it rained . That prompted us to find
our favorite lounge on the ship!
It's a quiet, circular room with windows all around.
It was the perfect reading spot for a rainy afternoon.

This is Nassau, Bahamas.
I LOVE the colors of the buildings!
I want a PINK house with a BLUE roof!

Here we are reading/sleeping in a hammock
on the beach in Coco Cay, Bahamas!
Can you say PARADISE?!?!

This was definitely the HIGHLIGHT of the trip.
In Nassau, we played with a dolphin!
We pet, hugged, kissed, even danced with Salvador the Dolphin.
We put our hands in his mouth and felt his teeth and tongue.
He came up out of the water vertically and we held his fins and danced!
And like a true gentleman, Salvador gave me a kiss on the cheek!
...he also gave us each a kiss on the LIPS!

Well, that was it! Our trip to Bahamas!
Jealous?
